Time for a Quickie? 5 Ingredients and 15 Minutes

Trust me, I know how it is, guys. Busy lives, hectic work schedules, jugging lots of obligations… it seems like there is always too much to do in too little time! Unfortunately, as a result, eating clean often falls by the wayside, since people (mistakenly!) assume that they just don’t have the time to cook a clean meal from scratch. This, however, is absolutely not the case! Cooking clean can be quick and easy! So today I have a recipe for you that shows you just how quick, easy, and tasty cooking clean can be— with a recipe that calls for only 5 ingredients and takes under 15 minutes to prepare! Forget the “I don’t have time to cook a clean meal” excuse, and whip up these Cajun smoked salmon burgers the next time you’re crunched for time.

Cajun Smoked Salmon Burger
Serves 1
1 5 ounce can of smoked salmon, drained
1/2 teaspoon cajun seasoning
2 pepperoncinis, chopped
3/4 of one egg white
2 portobello mushroom caps, grilled

To grill the portobello mushrooms, I simply popped the mushroom caps onto an indoor grill for 5-10 minutes. Remove from the grill to cool. Meanwhile, mix together the drained smoked salmon, chopped pepperoncinis, cajun seasoning, and egg white. You will not need a full egg white; you’ll just need enough to hold the salmon burger together— roughly 3/4 of an egg white. Form the salmon mixture into a burger, then cook in a lightly oiled pan over high heat. Cook until nicely browned on each side, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Place the cajun smoked salmon burger on the portobello mushroom caps, using as a bun, then add any additional toppings you wish— lettuce, tomato, peppers, etc.
